Pegu Club
A lesser known, but albeit classic cocktail. The Pegu Club is the signature serve of Burma’s Pegu Club, a renowned membership club that was frequented by senior British government, military officials and prominent businessmen during the late 1800s.
In 1930, the famed bartender and author of The Savoy Cocktail Book, Harry Craddock observed that the Pegu Club Cocktail “has travelled, and is asked for, around the world.” and it is easy to see why.
A refreshing yet tart and complex cocktail, it is easy to make and is best served in either a chilled Martini glass/Nick and Nora glass with a lime twist to garnish.
Ingredients
50mls Portobello Road Gin
20mls Triple Sec (or Cointreau)
15mls lime juice
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Method
Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker, shake well. Then fine strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a lime twist.
